Robinhood Trading MCP

Official agent access—without unofficial brokerage workarounds.

Robinhood’s Trading MCP is an official Model Context Protocol server that lets a compatible third-party AI agent read authorized account and market data and place supported orders in a dedicated Agentic account. Max AI Trading is independent from Robinhood and is building around this supported connection model.

What the Trading MCP is

Model Context Protocol is a standard for exposing tools and context to compatible AI clients. Robinhood publishes a Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint and an authorization flow for connecting an agent to a Robinhood Agentic account.

  • Official endpoint: https://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/trading
  • Desktop authentication and onboarding
  • Dedicated self-directed individual Agentic account
  • Connection can be revoked from Robinhood

What an authorized agent can see

Robinhood documents read access across the customer’s Robinhood accounts, including account numbers, positions, balances, transactions, order history, watchlists, and scans. That broad visibility makes data minimization, clear consent, secure token handling, and provider privacy terms essential.

  • Account and portfolio snapshots
  • Positions, balances, transactions, and orders
  • Watchlists, option watchlists, and scans
  • Realized P&L and trade-by-trade history

What an authorized agent can trade

The current official documentation says an agent can place long equities and options orders in the dedicated Agentic account. The agent cannot place trades in the customer’s other Robinhood accounts through the Trading MCP.

  • Review and place equity orders
  • Review and place options orders
  • Cancel open equity or options orders
  • Check tradability and options-access information

Account and margin boundaries

A customer needs a primary individual investing account in good standing before opening an Agentic account. Agentic accounts can use cash or limited margin for unsettled-funds access, but Robinhood states that margin borrowing is not currently enabled.

  • Agentic account uses a dedicated budget
  • Cash accounts wait for settlement
  • Limited margin can use unsettled proceeds
  • No margin borrowing at this time

How Max AI Trading fits

The integration design adds a proposal, policy, approval, and audit layer around official MCP tools. The current deployment does not yet submit live Robinhood orders; production execution will remain gated until authorization, token storage, revocation, idempotency, reconciliation, monitoring, and incident procedures are complete.

  • Never collect Robinhood passwords
  • Use official per-user authorization
  • Keep execution permission explicit
  • Record request, response, and reconciliation state

FAQ

Questions worth answering clearly

Does the agent get access to my primary account?

Robinhood documents read access to all Robinhood accounts and their details, but Trading MCP order placement is limited to the dedicated Agentic account. Review the authorization screen and your AI provider’s privacy terms carefully.

Can the agent trade without asking every time?

Robinhood warns that an agent can place trades without per-trade confirmation if instructed to act that way. Max AI Trading’s design keeps an independent human-approval control available so the user can choose a stricter workflow.

Is Robinhood Legend required?

No. Legend and the Trading MCP are separate products. Legend may be useful for manual analysis and trading, but it does not replace MCP authorization.

Is Max AI Trading affiliated with Robinhood?

No. Max AI Trading is an independent application and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Robinhood Markets, Inc. Robinhood is referenced to explain compatibility with its official tools.
