How it works

Research broadly. Decide deliberately. Record everything.

A useful AI trading system needs more than a chat box. Max AI Trading is designed as a staged workflow where data access, reasoning, policy, review, broker action, and reconciliation each have a clear responsibility.

The controlled sequence

Six visible stages. No invisible leap.

  1. 01

    Ask a focused question

Define the universe, time horizon, desired exposure, invalidation conditions, and the evidence the analysis should consider.

  2. 02

Gather official account and market context

Use authorized Robinhood MCP tools for portfolio data, buying power, positions, quotes, fundamentals, financials, earnings, scans, and technical indicators where available.

  3. 03

    Create a structured proposal

Convert the result into an explicit order intent with a thesis, quantity, reference price, estimated notional, and known risks.

  4. 04

    Apply deterministic controls

Check the proposal against order, daily, loss, concentration, asset-class, trading-pause, and execution-mode policy.

  5. 05

    Review or reject

Present the proposed action and policy outcome to the user. Human approval can remain mandatory even when Robinhood allows agents to act without per-trade confirmation.

  6. 06

    Execute and reconcile

After official MCP execution is enabled, review the broker response, track order status, reconcile activity, and record the final result with an idempotent audit trail.

Why stages matter

An AI model can be helpful at synthesis and pattern exploration, but it can also be wrong, stale, or overconfident. Staging makes it possible to inspect the intended action and stop safely before funds are affected.

  • Reasoning is not permission
  • Policy is not a prompt
  • Approval is not execution
  • Submission is not a fill

The current production scope

Account creation, authentication, paper proposals, risk-policy configuration, approval and rejection, and audit logging are live. Direct Robinhood execution is intentionally gated while the official MCP client authorization, token lifecycle, reconciliation, and incident controls are completed.

  • Public account registration
  • Paper-mode proposal workflow
  • Configurable risk policy
  • Administrator operations visibility

FAQ

Questions worth answering clearly

Do I need Robinhood Legend?

No. Legend is Robinhood’s separate professional trading interface. The Trading MCP is the relevant connection for an AI agent and a dedicated Robinhood Agentic account.

Can I start without connecting a broker?

Yes. The proposal and policy workflow starts in paper mode so the controls can be evaluated before any broker authorization is introduced.

What happens after an order is submitted?

A production execution service must record the request, broker order identifier, status changes, fills, cancellations, errors, and reconciliation outcome without creating duplicate orders.
