Options

Options tooling is available. Caution is not optional.

Robinhood’s current Trading MCP documentation includes options research and order tools, subject to account eligibility and approval. Options are complex, can lose their full value quickly, and some strategies can produce losses beyond the original investment.

Confirm account eligibility

Options access depends on Robinhood approval and the account’s permitted level. The MCP can provide a link to apply for an options-level upgrade, but approval must never be assumed.

  • Check current account permission
  • Keep options disabled by default in policy
  • Reject unsupported strategies
  • Revalidate eligibility before submission

Research the contract

Load chains, filter instruments by expiration, strike, or type, inspect historical bars and current quotes, and review existing option positions and orders.

  • Option chains
  • Contract filters
  • Historical and real-time quotes
  • Open and closed positions

Review before placement

Use the dedicated option-order review tool, surface broker alerts, confirm contract identity and multiplier, calculate maximum known loss where possible, and require approval for the exact reviewed contract and order.

  • Exact OCC-style contract identity
  • Fresh bid/ask context
  • Pre-trade alerts
  • Approval bound to unchanged details

Respect options-specific risk

Time decay, volatility changes, assignment, exercise, liquidity, spreads, early exercise, and complex strategy interactions can materially affect outcomes. An AI explanation is not a substitute for understanding the contract.

  • Entire premium can be lost
  • Liquidity can disappear
  • Assignment may create obligations
  • Complex strategies can exceed initial loss

FAQ

Questions worth answering clearly

Can every user trade options through an agent?

No. Options trading requires Robinhood approval, and availability depends on the account’s options access and the requested strategy.

Does Max AI Trading recommend options strategies?

No. Max AI Trading is workflow software, not an investment adviser. It does not promise that an options strategy is suitable or profitable.

Why keep options disabled by default?

Options add contract-selection, liquidity, expiration, assignment, exercise, and potentially nonlinear loss risks. Requiring an explicit policy change reduces accidental access.
